Matic spent five years with the Red Devils after signing for the club from Chelsea for £40m in July 2017, making 189 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals.

Mourinho, who signed him for United and the Blues before that, is believed to have explicitly requested the signing.

The Portuguese will therefore link up with the 48-cap former international if the transfer goes through.
